Transfer of Card Exchange software from one computer to another computer is referred to as Card Exchage MIGRATION.
Before you begin with migration make sure to follow below:
1) BACKUP -- Take a back up of your Existing Card Exchange Data.
2) Note down the Card Exchange and License details - Card Exchange version and License details ( Software serial No and Activation Code) Click here to know more
3) Copy the Database Files and templates -- .dtd and .dtd.bck files and .ced or .cedx files related to your card design.
Default Location to find these files : C:\Users\Public\Documents\CardExchange\Data
4) Copy the external files linked to your Card design databases like Excel sheets, Access DB, SQL, or other DB
How Do I Migrate???
I - Install the Application onto the new computer
1) Download the Card Exchange latest version (listed as v10 installers or V6-to v9 legacy Installers) from the website ( All the links are listed at the end of the document). Note if you are using Version 9 of Card Exchange while migrating you can not use Version 10 or any other legacy versions.
2) Install the application using the downloaded setup file downloaded.
3) Run the Card Exchange in the Demo Mode and make sure the installation was successful. If necessary get help from your IT team for the Administrator related errors. for any other errors refer to our knowledge base or contact us on customersupport@smartworld.ae
4) Activate the Software using the serial number and activation code. If you need any help with Activation code contact smart world support with card exchange serial number.
II - Configure your templates and Databases.
1) Copy your .ced or .cedx and .dtd and .dtd.bck files copied from old computer to new computer Data folder in your card exchange public documents.
2) Open the Card Exchange and Enable Advanced Mappings ( refer to below image).
3) Goto new card type the name for the card design and select or enter the group name ( you can leave the group blank also) and click Next. Select the Skip to Card Definition Wizard and Click on Finish. This will open the card Definition Wizard.
4) Card Definition wizards help you to configure the Database and Templates of your design.
i) Select the .cedx file -- Click on three dots and select the desired .cedx file. Once selected you can view the preview of your card design.
ii) Select the associated .dtd file and click on edit to configure the external DB files Excel, Access, or SQL.

iii) once the Database is set click on NEXT and Click on finish.
5) Repeat Step 3 and Step 4 if you have more templates.
6) Open the Print Tab, Select the Printer, Set the Printer Properties.
7) Open the Photos Tab, Configure your webcam if any.
8) This Completes your Migration of the Card Exchange and the system is ready for the card printing.
